Atim Eneida George
Public Diplomat in Residence
U.S. Public Diplomat in Residence 2011-2012


Atim Eneida George is a career Senior Foreign Service Officer with over 25 years of experience in international affairs. Ms. George has worked on human rights and democratization, environment, science and technology issues as well as strategic communications. As a public diplomacy practitioner her professional interests are anchored in a commitment to promoting peace, social justice and international understanding. George holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from Boston College, a Master in Education from Rutgers University and a Masters of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She is a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar and the University of Denver’s Graduate School of International Studies International Career Advancement Program (ICAP). An accomplished diplomat, she has received numerous awards including the American Foreign Service Association’s Harriman Award for "extraordinary contributions to the practice of diplomacy exemplifying intellectual courage and a zeal for creative accomplishment.” She is also the recipient of a 2005 State Department Superior Honor Award for “forging smart partnerships that promote democratic values and advance international understanding, exemplifying the best use of America’s ‘soft power’ to influence and persuade” In 2006 Ms. George was honored with a Chieftaincy title, Yeye Araba, by the Ooni of Ile Ife and she received an honorary doctorate from Babcock University for her work in Diplomacy and Peace Initiatives.
