About the Venue
In spring of 2006, in order to explore some of the possibilities for public diplomacy in virtual worlds, the Center established a permanent presence in Second Life when it purchased its own virtual island known as USC’s Annenberg Island. This presence later increased with the purchase of 3 additional sims in February 2007.

Currently the four sims, are under construction to become USC Annenberg Public Diplomacy Island, one internationally- themed island to extend the concept of public diplomacy to virtual reality. This island will be terraformed and built to communicate the general public diplomacy concept in an engaging entertaining way. The landscape and buildings will reflect different cultures and countries from around the world.

Despite this construction, we continue to host events as these sims are fully operational and remain open to the public. We invite you stop by the construction office at USC Annenberg Public Diplomacy Island for an in-depth look at the build process. iSummit SL Buildings
The build for the iCommons Summit 2007 in Second Life will be a replica of the real-life venue for iSummit in Dubrovnik, Croatia. This will consist of two buildings, Revelin Tower and Lazareti Quarantine, which will house all of the iSummit events in Second Life. The image to the right shows pictures of the actual buildings in Dubrovnik and a picture of the modeled replica for Second Life.
