AL JAZEERA CENTER FOR STUDIES RELEASES REPORT ON CPD CO-SPONSORED CONFERENCE: AL JAZEERA AT 15 YEARS

CPD joined with the Al Jazeera Center for Studies on October 31 and November 1, 2011 to mark Al Jazeera’s fifteenth anniversary as the Arab world’s leading regional news channel. A series of panel discussions reviewed the channel’s impact on politics in the Arab world, particularly during the Arab Awakening of 2011, and surveyed the road ahead. Constructive criticism from Al Jazeera journalists and others at the event underscored that the channel is far from perfect and will continue to mature. This report summarizes the proceedings.
