First Myanmar, France, Germany digital art show launched in Myanmar

The first Myanmar, France, Germany digital art show opened here Saturday under the cultural exchange program of the three countries. A total of eight artists, including three Myanmar artists, staged their respective own graphic art, electronic music and video shows at the French Cultural Center.

Japan, Singapore launch creative centre

The prime ministers from Japan and Singapore officially launched the Japan Creative Centre just off Orchard Road on Saturday. The centre was the result of an idea initiated by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong after a visit to Japan. Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said: "We plan to showcase Japan's 'soft power', including pop culture and cutting-edge technologies.

Can diplomacy resolve anti-Americanism?

the major main difference between traditional diplomacy and public diplomacy is that the former is among the two governments where as the latter is between the diplomats and the non officials (NGOs and Civil Society etc) of the target nation. The aims of public diplomacy cannot be achieved if they are believed to be inconsistent with a country’s foreign policy or military actions. Recently, the U.S. is suffering from “image problem” in most of the Muslim states.

Let there be light in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Britain's oldest museum reopened this month after a £61m refit. The display is designed to reflect the free-flowing cultural exchange of globalisation. Just as striking is the catch-all concept that informs the new galleries and displays: "Crossing Cultures Crossing Time". It is no accident that this slogan is unpunctuated, for this part of the museum is meant to be a free-flowing, postmodern temple to globalisation and trade.
