South Africa to host UNWTO inaugural summit on tourism, sport, and mega-events in 2010

The travel and tourism industry’s first international Tourism, Sport and Mega events Summit organised by United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) will be held in Sandton, South Africa from February 24-26, 2010. The Summit will be held to open growth potential of nations and the role of major sporting, business, and cultural events to re-inspire tourists to travel to global destinations.

Skeptics regard soft power as over-rated, but it is a mistake to discount the role that transformative leaders can play in changing the context of difficult issues. Power involves setting agendas and creating others' preferences as well as pushing and shoving. Soft power alone rarely solves hard problems. That is why the administration speaks of "smart power" that successfully combines hard and soft power resources in different contexts.
