In 2007, the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation awarded a $200,000 grant to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Asia Society and the Center for Dialogues at NYU to help support an Islamic Festival accompanied by an academic conference in New York City in the spring of 2009...Recognizing the power of art to bridge cultural divides locally and internationally, it was our expectation that the Festival would serve as a significant demonstration of the power of art as a tool of public diplomacy.

Iranian Musicians Enthrall People in Kashmir

Residents of Kashmir were treated to Iranian music during a Sufi music event held in Srinagar. The five-member group enthralled the music lovers during 'Jahan-e-Khusrau', a show dedicated to Sufi music, which was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

The Presidential Council on Nation Branding is reported to be working on designing a new government emblem...The nation branding panel...has 34 appointed members, 13 ex-officio members of the level of minister, 42 expert advisors, and 36 members of an international advisory group in addition to a 35-man secretariat including four bureau directors under a ministerial-level chairman.

GBD Center for Public Diplomacy and Cultural Exchange Is Set up in Beijing

On October 16, the Bridge Art Center of Beijing...was full of joy. The inauguration ceremony of the GBD Center for Public Diplomacy and Cultural Exchange, which was jointly created by the Association of Former Diplomats of China (AFDC) and the Bridge Art Center of Beijing, was held here. There were more than 300 participants attending the ceremony.
