Senate Panel Seeks to Reinstate Voice of America Cuts
Earlier this month, we reported that the Voice of America (VOA) was planning to cut seven radio language services. The cuts came partly as a result of the administration's emphasis on broadcasting to the Muslim world...Now the Senate panel that oversees its funding has recommended reinstating funding for the affected services -- though the move seems unlikely to prevent the cuts.
Iraq out of Beijing Games
The International Olympic Committee said Thursday that Iraq will not compete at the Beijing Games because of government interference. The IOC suspended Iraq's national Olympic committee in June after the Iraqi government dismissed and installed its own group chaired by the sports minister. The IOC told officials in Baghdad that it was upholding the suspension.

Foreign Flight Students To Lose Work-Study Option
