Harlem/Havana Cultural Exchange Brings Cuban Fashion, Food, Music

Find out how to make the most out of the exciting Harlem/Havana cultural exchange taking place this week.

HARLEM, NY — This week Harlem will be infused with Cuban culture in the form of concerts, Cuban food tastings and fashion shows. The inaugural Harlem/Havana Cultural Exchange kicked off Sunday with a two-hour performance at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, but the exchange will hit up various neighborhood institutions throughout the next week.

Cultural exchange events will be held until Sunday, August 21 as part of a two-part endeavor to bridge the culture gap between the United States and Cuba. The Harlem/Havana program was announced in June. In February of 2017, the United States will send a cultural delegation to Cuba in return for the events that Cuban musicians, artists, chefs and fashion designers will put on this week.
