Days of Azerbaijani Culture to be held in Austria

Azerbaijan's Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Adalat Valiyev and Austrian Senior Advisor for Strategies and Policies at the Interface of Arts, Culture and Education, member of the panel for the European Capitals of Culture Norbert Riedl held talks on September 23.

During the meeting, the deputy welcomed his guest and talked about Azerbaijan-Austria cultural relations.

Since 2000 many important developments have been made between Azerbaijan and Austria. Opening of mysterious Maiden Tower monument was held in Austria in 2003. Erection of outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Hajbeyli's monument and staging of "Arshin Mal Alan" operetta in Vienna in 2006 were also among the efforts strengthening cultural relations between two sides.

Valiyev also referred to important events such as holding Austria Days in Azerbaijan, participation of Vienna music collective in the International Music Festivals named after Uzeir Hajibeyli and Gara Garayev, as well as in Gabala Music Festival.

He also underlined merits of Azerbaijani composer Eyyub Guliyev and Vienna Chamber Orchestra's joint performance and "Expectation" monodrama by Arnold Schoenberg in Baku.

Moreover, discussions for holding Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Austria in 2015 were held during the meeting.

The sides also stressed the importance of holding mutual cultural days, which usually lead to strengthening of relations in the filed of art.

Azerbaijan has productive relations with many counties. It has already held events, days of culture and exhibitions in more than 70 countries of the world.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has already implemented a number of projects to expand relations between countries and nations.

Norbert Riedl for his part expressed satisfaction with his visit to Baku. He said all the events held between two countries always left pleasant impressions on him. He also highly evaluated the role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in supporting these relations.

Riedl went on to say that Days of Azerbaijani Culture is expected to be held in Austria.

The event is supposed to include an exhibition of Azerbaijani miniature books and folklore, as well as some photo and picture exhibitions. In addition, an exhibition of Azerbaijani music, film and tourism is planned to be held during the festival in Austria.
