Germany is one of the top ten investors in India and we want to continue this strong bond with India, said Andrea Christ, Deputy Counsel General, German Consulate, who was in the city to launch Dr. Wiesner’s bathroom product, a leading German company which has completed a decade in India.
Stating that the Indo-German relations have strengthened since the Make in India initiative with cultural exchange programmes and industrial opportunities, Ms. Christ said that, “Small enterprises have been the strength of Germany. About 70 per cent of the population in Germany is employed by the small companies and around 90 per cent are trained by them. We are trying to do a similar thing in India. Small companies are employing local people here and creating a family that works together for development.”
Today, 1,700 German companies have been established in India and around ₹ 3,000 crore investment has been made.
“We have employed around 200 people in Bengaluru in eight months and we plan to create more job opportunities for the people here,” said Hassan Krishnamurthy Nagbhushan, General Manager and Director, Dr. Wiesner.
Audrey D’Souza, Regional Director of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, was also present. She spoke of how better quality products at lesser price could be delivered if it is manufactured within the nation. “We take the advanced technology from abroad and create our own products. This helps in maintaining better product quality and strengthens foreign relations, cultural exchange and create more job opportunities for the people here.”
