The largest showcase of Irish Food wows Eva Longoria at Web Summit

Over 400 producers and chefs from all over the country have gathered for the Food Summit which is being run with Good Food Ireland at this year’s conference, held in the RDS.

Nearly 15000 guests were treated to a stunning feast of Irish artisan produce and a menu that shined with delicious farmhouse cheeses, sweet relishes, crispy sourdough and grass-fed Irish beef.

Good Food Ireland Founder Margaret Jeffares said the opportunity to meet the chefs and producers thrilled Web Summit speaker Eva Longoria.

“Today we’ve fed almost 15,000 guests and the feedback has been overwhelming. Someone said it is the Riverdance moment of Irish food.

“Eva Longoria was hugely excited by the experience and particularly enjoyed Tom Durkan’s spiced beef from Cork and Declan Ryan’s Arbutus Bread,” she said.

Over the course of the next three days, the Food Summit is expected to churn out a further 25000 impeccable dishes celebrating delicious Irish ingredients and will also cater to vegans and vegetarians with dishes packed with baby carrots, crab apples and salads from Dublin restaurant Cornucopia.

Throughout the conference 2000kg of Irish cheese, 7000 Waterford blaas and 18000 slices of cooked meat will be scoffed on site.

For those with a sweet tooth at the Web Summit, tens of thousands of handmade chocolates from Wilde Irish and Dublin's Chez Emily might hit the spot.

“This is the largest showcase of Irish artisan producers and chefs and it makes a powerful difference for the guests to be able to meet the cheesemaker, the baker or the butcher behind the ingredients,” said Margaret.

“What we are doing at the Food Summit is not just important for each individual business, but for the reputation of the whole country as a food island.”

Eva Longoria is not the only high profiler expected to gush about the scrumptious dishes on offer as Tom Parker Bowles and Travel Network’s Adam Richman will speak at the Summit on Wednesday afternoon.
