Chinese Internet company Baidu says it has reached an agreement with Microsoft to provide English-language results generated by the U.S. software company's Bing search engine.
The agreement, announced Monday, will automatically direct English search requests to Bing and its results will be displayed in pages in Baidu's search engine. Baidu, which is primarily a Chinese-language search engine, said the partnership will go into effect by the end of this year.
Baidu is the leading search engine in China, the world's biggest online market with at least 477 million Internet users.
Google, the world's most popular search engine, has been losing market share to Baidu in China since it left the mainland after a high-profile fallout with Beijing over censorship. China closely controls information in publications and on the Internet.
