Durga mandals, navratri and Garba spots in the city have foreign visitors and admirers who are in Thane to be a part of Navratri celebration. Sulochnadevi Singhania School, Thane has a global curriculum and adopts innovative methdos of teaching. It routinely undertakes teacher and student exchange programmes. As a part of international exchange programme of the school, students from Cambreur College, Netherlands are there in city for five days to witness and celebrate Durga puja and Dandiya Raas.
G. Vaijayanthi the co - ordinator for the international exchange programme from Singhania school informs "the international exchange programme at Singhania aims towards making students a global citizen. We not only focus on academic achievement of the students but through such programmes we make sure that students know culture of the different countries they visit and also spread word about our own country."
Anurag Katakkar, Nilovna Maelzar and Avani Ranade are few students who have been part of exchange programme shares " the programme was very beneficial and our opinion about west has completely changed. We returned as more matured and evolved person and can now proudly say that we have families and friends abroad too."
Yasin Koreman and Maartje Bastiaansen two among the foreign students share " We hope to know about the festival and city. Our friends have explained much about the festivals celebrated across this country and we are excited to witness the same during our stay till puja."
For a comfortable stay and fun filled celebration the school and host to the students have prepared their plan of action. Dandiya and garba workshop has been planned and timings for pandal hopping sessions across the city have also been fixed. The students will be visiting the big mandals in the city and would also attend dandiya and garba events.
"For overall development of the student the school arranges exchange programmes hence, has collaborated with various institutions abroad. It was few months back when students from Singhania school went to cambreur College in Netherlands to celebrate Easter and also to know about the place and now, the students from the same college are there in city to celebrate and be a part of Durga Puja celebration," says a teacher from Singhania School.
Danilo Versus and Tatiane spyker from Cambreur College, Netherlands shares "These types of programmes are good for both the students as they get to know about each others country. When students from Singhania were at our college a mini India was recreated. And not only this they were also good at adopting the place and culture of the west. Now, students from our college are here to know about the culture of this country."
