The Peruvian Embassy in the United States and the U.S. Congressional Caucus on Peru organized a gastronomic festival at U.S. Parliament headquarters on Thursday evening.
The meeting was attended by legislators, officials from both chambers and members of the Executive, plus other civil society organizations based in D.C.
Said Congressional Caucus, made up of United States' Senators and Representatives, is a bipartisan organization that intends to serve as a bridge and an instance of communication between the Peruvian Government and U.S. legislative power.
It is headed by Representatives Chris Stewart and Gregory Meeks of the Republican and Democrat parties, respectively.
"Our goal is for the Caucus on Peru to become the ideal place to hold an intense dialogue between Congress and our Embassy, with the purpose of discussing issues of common interest and sustaining a bilateral relationship that is now at its best," said Ambassador Carlos Pareja.
Dishes were prepared by well-known "China Chilcano" restaurant, owned by famous chef José Andrés, who offered a gastronomic proposal based on the best expressions of Peruvian cuisine. Likewise, companies Pisco Portón and LATAM were present on the occasion.
The event was conceived as part of public diplomacy efforts carried out by the Peruvian Embassy in the United States.
