Russian town celebrates Polish culture
A festival of Polish culture and history will begin on Sunday in the southern Russian town of Krasnodar, the town mayor's press service said on Tuesday.

A festival of Polish culture and history will begin on Sunday in the southern Russian town of Krasnodar, the town mayor's press service said on Tuesday. The festival, which is being held in Krasnodar for the eighth time, will open with a concert by a Polish folk group. A range of events dedicated to promoting Polish culture and improving Russian-Polish relations will then be held across the town. Russian town celebrates Polish culture Two local libraries will hold memorial evenings dedicated to World War II and the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, in which the armies of the Kingdom of Poland, Russia and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania united to defeat the Teutonic Order. The press service said exhibitions of Polish literature and paintings by the winners of a Russian- Polish children's fine art competition would also be held as part of the festival. The cultural program is being held by local Polish cultural center Unity, which aims to improve cross-cultural relations and prevent extremism.
