Dubai: Two schools will open branches in Dubai with a combined enrolment capacity of up to 4,000 students.

Brighton College UK and Dwight School New York, are set to accommodate pupils from the academic year 2018/19 onwards, while construction of the project is scheduled to commence in late 2016.

The three primary components of this 89,000 sqm campus include Brighton College Dubai, Dwight School Dubai, and the Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language, Culture and the Arts.

Brighton College Dubai will offer a K-12 British curriculum, seeking to replicate the academic success of Brighton College in the UK. Established under Bloom Education’s partnership with Brighton College, a co-educational school in the UK, the partners now look forward to becoming trusted providers of innovative and future-focused education in the Emirate.

“Brighton College is the UK’s top co-educational school, renowned for combining academic excellence with a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each boy or girl,” said Richard Cairns, who has led Brighton College UK for the past ten years.

Brighton College was recently named UK School of the Year by The Times and Richard Cairns was named Headmaster of the Year by Tatler. “We are looking forward to opening Brighton College Dubai and to giving parents in Dubai the opportunity to offer their sons or daughters a truly world-class education in one of the world’s greatest cities.”

Meanwhile, Dwight School, a private New York-based American International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum school founded in 1872, will offer a K-12 IB curriculum for students from ages three to 18. It will be the first Middle East campus of Dwight School, which currently operates a network of international campuses in London, Seoul and Shanghai.

“Dwight New York is delighted to extend Dwight’s 150-year commitment to ‘igniting the spark of genius in every child’ to Dubai, where students will be part of one global Dwight family,” said Stephen Spahn, Chancellor of The Dwight Schools, who is celebrating 50 years in education.

The schools will also offer extensive sports facilities, including tennis and squash courts, and a full soccer pitch with a 400-metre running track.

The Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language, Culture and the Arts located on the same campus, will be dedicated to the development of intra-cultural exchange, facilitate both teacher and student development, as well as promote a deeper understanding of the rich Arabic history and traditions.
