The Relevance Report: Trends for 2017

The USC Center for Public Relations has released its inaugural 2017 Relevance Report, “a forecast of topics and trends that will impact society, business and communications in the coming year.” Featuring pieces from communications leaders in academia, top PR agencies, and companies from Instagram to United Airlines, the report focuses on five categories: media, communications, technology, brand, and people.

From robot journalists to virtual reality, 2017 is set to be a year of dynamic changes and challenges within communications and public diplomacy. Among the various articles within the relevance report are ruminations on the relationship between business and diplomacy, brand-building in real time, and public discourse surrounding race and demographic shifts.
