Lagos — "It was Kurumi who said that 'we have tradition but tradition is tradition. Time may pass but the ways and the laws of our fathers still live on. The day that people leave their tradition is the day that their death is certain and they become seaweeds floating, they know not where to. Today we have an outstanding legacy.' We have distinguished Nigerians and I see and I feel the pulsation of their hearts, the dexterity of their dance steps and for me, that is one of the lasting heritages of a proud and heroic people."

Those were the words of the newly appointed Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Edem Duke, who was in Lagos at the weekend on tour of the ministry's parastatals.
