New Delhi:  From joint collaboration to single window clearance - an Indian delegation would be showcasing the country's "soft power" at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival

Led by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka, the team, which arrived here Sep 6, will share details about the country's strength as a film shooting destination for foreign producers and would promote joint collaborations amongst stakeholders, said an Information and Broadcasting Ministry statement.

India and Canada had recently signed an Audio-Visual Co-Production Agreement, which enables Indian and Canadian film producers to collaborate on various facets of filmmaking.

The visit of the delegation will also explore the possibilities of pooling creative, artistic, technical, financial and marketing resources for co-production.

It gives an opportunity to showcase India's "soft power" across the globe, said the statement.

The delegation's four-day visit is expected to chart out a roadmap for funding of co-production agreements in future and boost the export of Indian films across film markets, including Canada.

The visit is also expected to apprise stakeholders on the progress achieved so far in expediting the single window clearance mechanism in India.

Julka will also hold discussions with Telefilm Canada as a step towards further cementing Indo-Canadian relations in film co-production.

Julka will also meet David Carey, director, TIFF, to discuss issues related to the participation of Indian films at the film festival. He is expected to apprise Carey on the policy framework undertaken to promote India's participation at international film festivals and the initiatives to brand International Film Festival of India (IFFI) as a platform for participation of foreign films during the festival.

The secretary will also meet the members of the India Canada Business Council and he also hold talks with the National Film Board (NFB), Toronto.

Julka will also participate in the Asian Film Summit being held at Toronto Sep 9.
