UK Confucius Institute Celebrates Students During International Education Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2016) — As part of the University of Kentucky’s International Education Week celebration, UK Confucius Institute (UKCI) will host a student night reception from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), Nov. 18, at the Hilary J. Boone Center.

UK students will be able to enjoy a meal while listening to some of UKCI’s Chinese cultural programming, as well as network with other fellow students who are also interested in Chinese life and culture.

The reception will feature different activities for all the guests including Chinese games, Chinese costumes, a guzheng and dulcimer performance, and a catered Chinese dinner.

“We are glad to offer this ‘student spotlight’ event during International Education Week,” said Huajing Maske, UKCI director and executive director of the Office of China Initiatives. “In addition to Chinese games and a delicious meal, the evening will feature a student forum where Confucius Institute national honors recipients, students who traveled and studied in China and students who traveled from China to UK, will share their journeys seeking international education.”

During the reception, Maske will introduce UKCI China trip programs and scholarships, followed by the UKCI Volunteer Certificate Awards Ceremony. The UK Chinese Students and Scholars Association will also make a presentation during the festivities.

All UK students are welcome to join and invite up to two friends to this event. Business casual dress code is suggested.
