Some world renown, award-winning ballet dancers were here in Bowling Green. Dancers from the "Great Moscow Ballet" along with some lucky local children, performed Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic, the Nutcracker at SKyPAC Tuesday night.

It was a night fitting for the first of December in front of a full SkyPAC and a once in a lifetime opportunity for young ballerinas.

"We're giving the opportunity to local dancers, all over the country, all over the United States and also Canada to participate and dance on stage with professional dancers," Audition Director and dancer Olga Aru said.

All ages and experience levels were able to share the stage with the professionals, regardless if they could stand on their tippy--toes or not.

"I would say it depends on their roll. But we require minimum one year of ballet training, professional ballet training, for the smaller children.... And for the older girls that can have a chance to dance on variation, they should be able to dance on pointe," Aru added.

The Moscow Ballet works hard to let cities all over the U.S. experience a Christmas classic, the Nutcracker.

"The winter tour is a year in the making. It takes ten months to build the routing and get everything together, then we execute in two months," Moscow Ballet Producer Dan Talmi said.

The dancers enjoy traveling in the U.S... since it's so different from Russia.

"You know, they just love seeing the cities in the U.S. and what life is like here. That cultural exchange is just, you can't get it any other way," Talmi added.

This dance program gives children in the area a unique opportunity.

"And I'm so pleased SkyPac can do this. We have many many performances, and many of them involve children. And it's an exposure to the arts that they dont necessarily have. So it's, it's why we are here," SKyPAC Coordinator Jackie Goldammer said.
