CPD Advisory Board Member Named President and CEO of NPR

CPD Advisory Board Member Gary E. Knell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sesame Workshop, has been appointed President and CEO of NPR. Mr. Knell will join the company effective December 1, 2011. He replaces Vivian Schiller who exited in March amid a series of controversies. He joined Sesame Workshop in 1998 and became COO in 1998 and CEO in 2000 and has led the nonprofit educational organization in its mission to create innovative, engaging content that maximizes the educational power of all media to help children reach their highest potential.

Gary Knell has been a member of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy's Advisory Board since its creation in 2004.
