CPD Director gives two talks in Washington, D.C.

CPD director Philip Seib spoke about social media and diplomacy at a conference on “Diplomacy and Communication: The Transatlantic Perspective” organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washington, DC on August 9.

Joining Seib as principal speakers at the event were David Ensor, director of Voice of America, and Bruce Sherman, director of the Office of Strategy and Development of the Broadcasting Board of Governors. The conference was chaired by S. Enders Wimbush, senior director, Foreign Policy and Civil Society of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

While in Washington, Seib also spoke at a luncheon organized by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, discussing issues related to strategic communication and public diplomacy. At the State Department, he also met with Tara Sonenshine, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.
