The Value of Culture

We are at the stage where the promotion of Polish culture abroad is going through serious changes, and that will continue. Such are the intentions also of Bogdan Zdrojewski, the minister for culture and the director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM), Paweł Potorczyn. However, without close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs these changes will not succeed. IAM was established by the Minister for Culture and National Heritage in agreement with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to carry out government policies to promote culture.

Saudi-Cuba Cultural Co-op Accord Inked

The governments of Saudi Arabia and Cuba signed an executive program of cultural cooperation and expressed interest in strengthening and expanding links in that field, informed Cuban diplomatic sources. The document based on the General Cooperation Agreement signed in 2004 between the Saudi kingdom and the island was inked on occasion of the visit of Culture First Deputy Minister, Rafael Bernal to this capital.

Arab-South American Summit Aims to Boost Ties

Qatar will host on March 31 the Second Arab-South American Summit, which will gather Arab and South American leaders to enhance the political, economic, social and cultural status of countries from both sides. “We all look forward this year to contributing to resolving all Arab and international issues, which will enhance our status as an effective pivot locally and in the international community.

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) organised Thursday a series of seminars and panel discussions. The events entitled "The Artistic and Cultural Heritage: A Contemporary Vision" was held at the tent of the Global Art Forum at Dubai’s Port of Peace as part of the Global Art Forum held in Dubai.

Analysts and lawmakers have expressed concerns that the department needs more high-ranking political staff to carry out its agenda. The holes lie in the ranks of undersecretaries and ambassadors who must be confirmed. Country Brand

The government has embarked on an ambitious plan to boost the country's brand power from the current 33rd position in the world to 15th by 2013. The motto of the new Korea brand is a "caring and lovable Korea."...The government can lead the way in creating and implementing a nation brand. However, it is up to each individual to actually "live" the brand and give it authenticity and power. Hence, it is vital that the public understand the need to create such a brand. To this end, the government should actively promote this brand among its citizens as well as to people overseas.
