U.S. ambassador to Bolivia called home for consultations

The United States said Monday that its ambassador to Bolivia will return to Washington for consultations after violent protests last week in La Paz...Thousands of demonstrators marched on the U.S. Embassy last Monday to demand that the U.S. extradite a former Bolivian defense minister who directed a military crackdown on riots that killed at least 60 people in 2003.

As a visiting communications professor teaching in Beijing last fall, Nancy Snow gave talks to state officials about how to deal with the Western media during the 2008 Summer Olympics.
