There’s no doubt that South Korea has set its sights on becoming a major contemporary cultural hub in Asia, whether it’s through its increasingly prominent movie industry, rapidly growing design market, or proliferating modern art facilities.

As China continues to flex its economic muscles, there are rumblings that it could begin to encroach on an all-American commodity: the Hollywood blockbuster.

World leaders, who will visit Seoul for the G20 summit to be held in November, are likely to receive a very special gift from the presidential office at the end of the two-day session. A fancy book on Korean cuisine, tentatively titled “Nature of Korean Food by Kim Yoon-ok,” is part of the first lady’s pet project targeting foreign dignitaries that will be here.

Ambassador Clarke said the 2010 European Film Festival will provide "a marvelous opportunity for Europe to show the vibrancy of the European film industry and to share this with Tanzanian people."

The programme is conducted in partnership with the Lincoln Center, and produces an annual series of international tours for ten American ensembles performing jazz, urban, or other American roots music at venues outside of the US.

The festival of lights will illuminate Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, which will be abuzz with breathtaking costumes, live entertainment and a massive fireworks display for the second FNB Gauteng Diwali Festival.

On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), today welcomed the 5,800,000th visitor to the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Canada has now exceeded its attendance goal two weeks before the end of the exposition.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Yemen and France, the French Cultural Center in Sana’a launched a photo exhibition entitled “Words of Eyes”,for 8 Yemeni photographers, on Tuesday.
