Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) celebrated the International Museum Day on Thursday, internationally acknowledged on May 18th. The ceremony took place at the Ajman Museum and was attended by a number of Emirati heritage enthusiasts, Government officials as well as museum visitors, consisting of residents and tourists. The celebration included a number of heritage activities where the visitors could experience folk dances such as the Liwa and Ayala dances and samples delicious traditional cuisine.

The shared South African-Mexican craving for maize was deliciously apparent when City Press and the Soweto Hotel introduced Mexican restaurateur and culinary star Abigail Mendoza to Madiba’s longstanding personal chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya. Tasked with making maize-based meals that reflected their respective culinary cultures, these queens of traditional flavour went to work to create magnificent mealie dishes.

Filipino American food’s past and future, its role in diplomacy, and restaurants in the US capital serving Filipino cuisine took center stage at a symposium held at the Philippine Embassy in commemoration of Filipino American History and Archives Month.

 

The Israeli-Palestinian controversy is among the most sensitive and lasting issues in global politics. Mana Heshmati started Peace Meal Kitchen, a gastro-diplomacy pop-up restaurant in Detroit, to gather people around a table, sharing food and exchanging cultural ideas. 

The audience was media personnel and journalists gathered at a press conference Thursday, 13 October, at the Conrad Hotel in Cairo to witness the launch of the first Chocolate Festival, organised by the Swiss Embassy in Egypt. One visiting guest in particular was celebrated on the occasion: renowned Swiss chocolatier Romain Leemann who is visiting Egypt for the first time to participate in a series of events that aim to make Egyptians more acquainted with aspects of Swiss culture.

Seventeen Muslim, Christian, and Jewish women visited Northwest Indiana due to the efforts of the Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana. The “Cooking a Dialogue” program was started to encourage a dialogue between Arab and Jewish women in the Western Galilee region of Israel. They have gotten to know each other on a personal level as well as learn about each other’s culture, customs, and food.
