Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential for active participation in the fast-moving classes and small group discussions. If English is your second language, or if you have less than one year’s experience working in an English-speaking environment, please provide a brief statement documenting your proficiency. (The Admissions Committee also may require an interview.)

VISA INFORMATION
If you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have not been granted political asylum, you must obtain a F-1 "Other" visa to attend the Summer Institute (which costs $250 USD). If you need a visa, CPD will send you a F-1 form to begin visa application process, which includes a telephone interview to ensure English proficiency.

LODGING

Participants may choose to stay at any location in Los Angeles and coordinate their reservation and transportation to the USC campus on their own. However, for those who wish to stay close to campus, the Radisson USC Hotel across the street is walking distance to the Summer Institute. Students accepted into the program should contact the hotel directly to make their lodging reservations. This should include a 14-day stay. Lodging costs are not included in tuition fees. For a list of hotels close to the USC campus, please read the ACCOMODATIONS section on the "More Information" page.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Payment deadlines and terms of the program are spelled out on your individual invoice. Cancellations or deferrals must be received in writing. No refunds will be given 30-days prior to the program. If a refund is given, an administrative fee of 15% will be charged. F-1 Visa and overnight mailing costs cannot be refunded.
