Legendary Cuban Vocalist and Latin Grammy Winner Omara Portuondo to Perform In USA

Cuban vocalist Omara Portuondo, who scored a Latin Grammy Award for her 2008 recording, Gracias (World Village / Montuno) - and a Grammy nomination for the same recording will bring her rich, soulful brand of jazz and balladry to live audiences in the United States. She was the first Cuban artist in six years to be granted a visa to perform in the United States.

Poll Finds Optimism for Obama’s Mideast Diplomacy

Israeli attitudes toward U.S. President Barack Obama aren't nearly as dismal as previous reports have implied, according to a poll released Thursday by the Washington-based think tank, the New America Foundation. The new findings indicate that Israelis have a more nuanced view of the U.S. president and his role in the Middle East peace process than has been portrayed in the media lately.

Al Qaeda offers ‘condolences’ for innocent victims

On the heels of a U.S. announcement of a massive troop surge for Afghanistan, an al Qaeda spokesman Saturday appeared to be trying to improve the group's image in the region with a new audio message in English. Adam Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, appeared in a 17-minute video released on Islamist online forums late Friday, offering condolences to the families of innocent people killed in al Qaeda attacks.

Korean Media Unfairly Focus on China’s Negative Image

Citing a Gallup poll with 1,000 Chinese students studying in the nation, the newspaper said Korean people's prejudice and misunderstanding on China topped the survey, with a 22.3 percent of respondents as among the major difficulties they face in South Korea.

Secretary of State for European Affairs Bogdan Mazuru and Bulgaria’s Ambassador in Bucharest Valentin Radomirski on Friday, at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), signed a cooperation programme between the two countries in education, science, culture, mass media, youth and sports for 2009-2011.
