The public diplomacy division of India's ministry of external affairs is launching a major initiative aimed at encouraging individuals and countries to think of India in interesting, pervasive and positive ways. This is being done through a global video challenge themed "India is...Global Video Contest."

In the last few years, India has deftly indulged in Bollywood promotion in China, part of soft power diplomacy that both sides feel help in creating a positive atmosphere for nurturing bilateral ties that often get entangled in sensitive issues.

This research project centered on the Indo-U.S. diplomatic relationship throughout the post-war period, and investigated the role (and probable failure) of U.S. public diplomacy in India. The two core outputs of this research included a detailed historical survey of U.S. public diplomacy in India and an overview of perceptions and misperceptions of the United States in contemporary India.

It has become as much English or Scottish as it is Thai or Samoan. Once associated with the kitchens of the subcontinent, the curry's aroma now wafts across continents effortlessly, often taking on a life of its own.
