CPD Director cited in Financial Times article on Al Jazeera as a global media phenomenon

A November 4th Financial Times article titled "Qatar Calling" assessed the growth of Al Jazeera's media reach under the direction of its former director-general Wadah Khanfar, citing CPD Director, Philip Seib's op-ed article in Foreign Affairs.

The article states that with the rise of other channels in the region and the public's desire for multiple voices Al Jazeera cannot stand back and deliver news to a waiting audience. "High quality global journalism requires investment," Seib is quoted as saying. "As more of the region gains access to the Internet, a proliferation of information providers is eroding Al Jazeera’s dominance.”
