The Need for Civility in Public Diplomacy

PD News headlines this week acknowledged the importance of civility, cooperation and intercultural communications in both addressing global challenges and creating mutually beneficial opportunities for public diplomacy. Cultural institutions in Italy, Jordan, and the U.S. returned 800 historical artifacts to Iraq, marking "a small victory for Iraqi authorities struggling to protect their heritage" from ISIS. Egypt, India and Israel hosted interfaith Ramadan dinners that extolled values of compassion and grace; and in London, citizens joined together, in person and online, to remember 52 victims of terror attacks.
