New peace initiatives of official Tbilisi
Last week official Tbilisi presented new peace initiatives in connection with settlement of existing conflicts on the territory of Georgia. The strategy includes the following areas: economic relations, infrastructure and transport, education, healthcare and public diplomacy.
Obama boosts budget for State
President Obama on Monday proposed a $5 billion increase in the State Department's 2011 budget. Diplomatic and consular programs will benefit from a significant increase next year. Public diplomacy spending will jump, too.

Elimination of VOA Hindi, Croatian, and Greek included in President Obama’s proposed FY 2011 savings
The 2011 Budget proposal would eliminate VOA Croatian and Greek language broadcasts. As proposed in 2010 and accepted by the Congress, VOA Hindi will cease broadcasting in 2010, these savings are also reflected in the funding summary.
Ma describes his successful foreign policy
President Ma Ying-jeou said Monday that Taiwan is showing its soft power through its humanitarian aid to Haiti. Ma was speaking to relief teams who had returned from Haiti. President Ma also returned from a trip to Latin America where he brought ten tons of relief goods to the earthquake victims.

Cultural Exchange Spans Pacific From Suquamish to New Zealand
So, since the Maori visited Suquamish for last summer’s Tribal Journeys celebration, members of the Suquamish Tribe and Oregon’s Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde are preparing to travel to New Zealand. The seeds of this cultural exchange were planted at a 2006 art exhibition at the University of Washington’s Burke Museum.
