Obama’s Afghan Hedge Undercuts Clinton’s NATO Ask
Hillary Clinton will not have an easy job convincing Europe that America is serious about winning in Afghanistan. Having only partially filled his commanding officer’s request for up to 80,000 additional troops, President Obama’s speech did not represent an unflinching endorsement of Gen. McChrystal’s recommended counterinsurgency strategy. And the commitment of the Commander-in-Chief to victory in Afghanistan is crucial to convincing Europe to do more.
Israel’s just fears of a Palestinian state
I have fought for the two-state solution for many years and am in favour of East Jerusalem being the Palestinian capital. While it would be preferable to reach these goals through negotiation, the process has been stuck for too long. The EU's recognition of the Palestinian state and capital might reignite the peace process.
Initiative for stronger partnership with Pakistanis this month: Hillary
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Tuesday said an initiative will be launched...in about 10 days, we will be hosting the first-ever Pakistani American diaspora community effort to create a nonprofit known as the American Pakistan Foundation, to collaborate on people-to-people exchanges, cultural diplomacy, and other advocacy to build a stronger partnership with the people of Pakistan," she said.
Obama’s ‘Prestige’ on the Line in Copenhagen, With Climate Deal Far From Certain
President Obama's plans for seeking an international agreement at a U.N. climate change conference next week sound precariously similar to his plans for pitching Chicago as the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics two months ago. At both meetings, the president scheduled very brief appearances, planning to arrive early and be long gone before any decision was reached.

The Way Forward in Afghanistan and Pakistan
Taken together, these additional American and international troops will allow us to accelerate handing over responsibility to Afghan forces, and allow us to begin the transfer of our forces out of Afghanistan in July of 2011. Just as we have done in Iraq, we will execute this transition responsibly, taking into account conditions on the ground. We will continue to advise and assist Afghanstan’s Security Forces to ensure that they can succeed over the long haul.
Dance with Dragon - China opens new doors in Brazil
The quintessentially Chinese dance in downtown São Paulo may not be a metaphor for Brazil dancing to China’s tune, but it was a reminder of the growing ties between two of the world’s rising powers in two continents. Intensifying trade and cultural contacts between the two may be laying the groundwork for political cooperation on a global scale and helping Brazil to consolidate its leadership in South America.

Two leading global trade associations are co-hosting their annual Work Experience Travel Market and IAPA Annual Conference (WETM-IAC Conference) in Miami, Florida in March—marking the first time the event will be held outside of Europe, and emphasizing the increasing importance of the North and South American markets to the cultural exchange market.
