Professor Nick Cull hosted a conversation with Anne O’Leary about public diplomacy in Afghanistan. O’Leary is in charge of the press, information, cultural, and educational exchange programs of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. She recently assisted President Bush with his surprise visit to Afghanistan this week. And discussed this visit along with her experience in public diplomacy as a practitioner in a potentially hostile state.
O’Leary has previously been posted in many overseas and domestic positions, including Beirut, Lebanon, Amman Jordan, Alexandria, Egypt, New Delhi, India, Rabat, Morocco, Tripoli, Libya and as Chief, North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, Office of International Visitors, USIA.
