Rabbi Hits the Road with Jewish-Muslim Friendship Bus
In this new video from Voice of America, French Rabbi Michel Serfaty discusses the importance of interfaith dialogue, respect and coexistence between French Jews and Muslims. For more than a decade, the rabbi has been traveling around France with an imam and a delegation of Muslim youth in a minibus to bring his message of Jewish-Muslim friendship. "Amitié Judéo-Musulmane de France," or AJMF, promotes friendship and understanding between the two religious communities. By opening doors between the two faiths, the rabbi seeks to both spread a message of tolerance and understanding, as well as to counter discrimination and stereotypes about one another. This video demonstrates the importance of listening, dialogue and people-to-people diplomacy to connect communities on a human level, and ultimately, to facilitate and foster interfaith friendships.
