NATO’s New Public Diplomacy: The Art of Engaging and Influencing

At NATO, we have overhauled our technological capabilities, aimed at bringing the NATO website and other audiovisual tools and products up to a par. We are trying hard to make NATO's interface with the outside world as interactive as possible, by hosting lectures, videos and discussions online. Since April last year, a TV channel has been complementing our digital information offer on the internet. This is all good - but not good enough. NATO should be more courageous in using digital tools to directly interact with the public.

World Heritage Site in S’pore?

Since rejoining the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2007, Singapore has been familiarizing itself with the various conventions under the world organization, according to the secretariat for Singapore's Sub-Commission on Culture and Information for Unesco...In a statement to The Sunday Times, the Sub-Commission said it is working with relevant government agencies to study the feasibility of nominating 'various cultural landmarks and districts of historical significance for a World Heritage site listing'.

World Heritage Site in Singapore?

For all of Singapore's World No. 1 recognition - whether for its airport, business-friendly economy or nation branding - this city-state is conspicuously missing from the Unesco list. It is not the only country in South-east Asia that does not have an internationally recognised heritage site: Brunei, Myanmar and Timor Leste have also not made nominations to the world body for this prestigious title. But does Singapore have what it takes? One Singaporean thinks so.
