Fall 2021 CPD Public Diplomacy Trainings Are Here

Online Professional Education

CPD is pleased to announce its fall lineup for our professional education activities. This season we're offering a new CPD Mini-Course, "Cultural Diplomacy for the Post-pandemic World,” which was offered alongside the Spring 2021 "Data-Driven Public Diplomacy" and a rescheduled "Using Audio for Public Diplomacy.”

Cultural Diplomacy Diplomacy for a Post-pandemic World

Dates: September 21, 23, 28 and 30, 5:00pm–7:30pm
(PT; Time Zone Converter)
Application Deadline: September 3, 2021

Given that public diplomacy practitioners must be nimble to program both in-person and now the ubiquitous virtual events for global audiences, we designed a program that ticks the boxes of foundational and historical insights, setting up your evaluation and measurement strategy, creating digital content for alumni engagement, and the unique differences between in-person and hybrid programming. In four sessions (or 8.5 hours), we will highlight best practices using our case study examples of developing your public diplomacy practice.

Data-driven Public Diplomacy

Dates: October 6, 8, 11 and 13, 7:00am–9:30am
(PT; Time Zone Converter)
New Application Deadline: September 27, 2021

This course will focus on leveraging data and artificial intelligence for today's public diplomat. Our one-of-a-kind professional training programs equip practitioners with key skills needed to deploy effective and impactful public diplomacy. This 8–8.5 hour training will position you for a forward-looking, data-rich public diplomacy practice.

Using Audio for Public Diplomacy

Dates: October 19, 21 and 25, 7:00am–9:30am
(PT; Time Zone Converter)
New Application Deadline: September 20, 2021

In this offering, learn how the effective use of radio, storytelling and interviewing bring together a compelling and engaging way to promote your stories to the world.

The CPD Advantage

CPD has been the innovative leader in training public diplomats, scholars and communication professionals for over 15 years. Our training utilizes the latest social science research and cutting-edge communication tools in real-time public diplomacy challenges. It provides a setting for practitioners to re-examine and refine their skills in a group of peers and to build an international network of colleagues. These programs are highly interactive, allow for collaborations with colleagues, and feature an engaging, forward-looking curriculum.

As usual, our online workshops take a deep dive into some of the most critical issues in designing effective and sophisticated public diplomacy strategies with our leading scholars and experts. Sessions are fast-paced and also allow for personalization, as participants bring real-time projects to exercise their skills and problem-solve with faculty and peer participants.

With this Fall 2021 CPD Mini-Course lineup, please note the ways in which our training differs from others:

  • Discounts for USC alumni (applicants must complete that section on the application form);
  • Discounts for organizations who send 3+ or more participants to a program;
  • Trainings for most time zones with both morning and evening sessions;
  • Additional guest speakers added for additional feedback and insights;
  • Small group learning to allow for peer-to-peer networking and collaborations.
