Latest issue of CPD Perspectives assesses PD impact of 2008 Pro-China demonstrations
The latest issue of CPD Perspectives in Public Diplomacy is now available. Entitled "Public Diplomacy from Below: The 2008 Pro-China Demonstrations in Europe and North America," this issue of CPD Perspectives looks at a new breed of overseas Chinese activism through the lens of the 2008 pro-China demonstrations in Europe and North America ahead of the Beijing Olympics. Under reported by the Western media, authors Barry Sautman and Li Ying argue that these mainly grass-roots demonstrations comprised the most compelling acts of public diplomacy from below to date, and tied in with Beijing’s efforts to boost China’s soft power.
