Akron nurse practitioner will travel to Egypt as ambassador

People to People is sending a group of 40 nurses, researchers and nurse practitioners to Egypt to attend a U.S.-Egypt nursing forum. The group will spend five days touring hospitals, participating in panel discussions and comparing nursing between the United States and Egypt.

On May 19, the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings hosted the release of a new 2009 University of Maryland/Zogby International public opinion poll which reveals long-term trends and surprising revelations about perceptions of the United States and President Barack Obama in the Middle East. Shibley Telhami, Saban Center nonresident senior fellow and principal investigator of the poll, and the Anwar Sadat professor for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland, presented his latest polling research and key findings.

An Evening at the International Language Party

The monthly international language party is fast becoming a Berlin institution. After all, apart from within the confines of the United Nations cafeteria, there cannot be too many places in the world where you can share a drink and a chat with people from a diverse array of countries ranging from Albania to Trinidad. People were letting their guard down here. They were having a go at speaking, listening and understanding another tongue and not getting hung-up on any of the inevitable mistakes.

There were clear differences in how much the different media outlets emphasized his commitment to engaging Iran. But there is little in this initial round of press coverage to suggest that the Arab public is disappointed or frustrated with the Obama-Netanyahu meeting.
