UN Peacekeepers Scale Mt. Kilimanjaro on Peace Mission

An international delegation of peacekeepers from the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to promote a message of world peace. The trio of climbers, from India and Romania, scaled the tallest mountain in Africa to commemorate both the end of their deployment in Juba, South Sudan and their wish for peace and stability in the war-torn nation. As this video from CCTV Africa reports, the climbers carried with them a “UN flag with the words ‘Kilimanjaro Climb for Peace,’ a befitting way to leave a lasting mark after ending their service.” This video is a powerful reminder of the importance of international cooperation, teamwork and dedication to surmount both the literal and metaphorical mountains in world affairs.
