CPD Announces 5-year Strategic Plan

CPD's Strategic Plan (January 2011-December 2015) outlines the USC Center on Public Diplomacy's commitment to strengthening PD scholarship; expanding professional training; improving its outreach; building its organizational structure; and increasing its funding base.

In its strategic plan, CPD has envisioned a two-track research focus which includes Traditional Public Diplomacy (cultural diplomacy, international broadcasting and China's PD) as well as New Public Diplomacy (corporate diplomacy, social media and new technology, faith diplomacy and science diplomacy). In addition, the Center will continue its work on the evaluation of public diplomacy. These foci reflect the Center's current research priorities.

The document presents an ambitious plan for the Center over the coming five years, and provides a road-map for enhancing CPD's global leadership role in public diplomacy studies and practice. William H. Luers, Chair of the CPD Advisory Board described the plan as "comprehensive." "It will serve as a guide as we develop the amazing Center which has come so far in just a few years," he added.
