CPD Perspectives: Moscow ‘59 - The Sokolniki Summit Revisited

In the first CPD Perspectives paper of the year, Moscow ’59: The "Sokolniki Summit" Revisited, CPD University Fellow Andrew Wulf examines the American cultural exhibition held in Moscow during the summer of 1959. He contends that this use of soft power offers useful lessons for contemporary decision makers, particularly with respect to American participation in the Shanghai 2010 Expo and other future cultural exchange events.

CPD Perspectives is a periodic publication from the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, and highlights scholarship intended to stimulate critical thinking about the study and practice of public diplomacy. To order hard copies, please send an email to cpd@usc.edu.
