CPD Summer Institute Photo Recap

The 9th CPD Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy concluded on August 1st, with 30 public diplomats engaging in extensive public diplomacy training.

Participants from Qatar, Canada, Japan, Israel, Tunisia, Romania, Italy, France, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and the United States worked in teams to address current global issues, simulate mock press conferences, and implement comprehensive public diplomacy strategies for foreign embassies. The 2014 CPD Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy also offered new modules in digital storytelling, creative leadership, and innovation, as well as digital analytics and tools.

The two-week program ended with a discussion on the vital role of non-state actors, presented by Fadi Chehadé, President and CEO of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Fadi, an alumnus of the 2012 CPD Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy, emphasized how CPD’s public diplomacy training has allowed him to engage with global leaders, government officials, and foreign publics.

CPD continues to be impressed with the expertise and leadership skills public diplomats bring to the table at our Summer Institutes, and how they continue to be a valuable source and networking resource for emerging practitioners.
