Celebrating Philip Seib: A Life in Journalism and Public Diplomacy

For years many of us have collaborated with and learned from Phil Seib as he wore various hats of scholar, journalist, public diplomacy visionary and mentor. Now is our time to celebrate him as he bids farewell to USC Annenberg, were he has served as CPD Director (2009–13), Professor of Journalism and Public Diplomacy, USC Annenberg Vice Dean (2015–16) and CPD Faculty Fellow.

Today a group of dear colleagues and friends celebrated Phil’s impact on the field of public diplomacy. Reflections from faculty, students, staff, practitioners and more filled the virtual space and attendees spoke about how much he has meant to us in our work and to the fields of public diplomacy and journalism.

On May 17, 2021 we raised a glass and listened to the toasts for his new chapter ahead. Make sure you add one of Phil's books to your summer reading list and download his work on the CPD website. Read CPD’s “Meet the Author” interview with him here.
