Naweed Lemar oversaw the CPD Blog and is a former research intern for the CPD Research Fellow Project ‘Public Diplomacy and the United Nations Security Council: Securing a Seat at the Top Table’. Under the advisement of Professor Caitlin Byrne, the Principal Investigator of the project, Naweed sought to discover how sovereign states utilize public diplomacy in the pursuit of a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
In his second year of the Masters of Public Diplomacy program, Naweed explored his research interests in Afghanistan’s war history, the United Nations, cultural diplomacy and international broadcasting.
Naweed received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations at UCLA in 2009 where he constructed his senior honors thesis titled “Why Coalition Forces Are Failing in Afghanistan”. In his leisure time, Naweed enjoys reading The Economist and a variety of blogs in the worldwide web, as well as watching movies.
