Canada enjoys a positive image in China, but lacks a singular defining quality

Canada is well regarded among the Chinese people, especially as a destination for study or emigration, according to a recently released survey of 1,056 residents in five major Chinese cities conducted by Shanghai-based N-Dynamic Market Research, in collaboration with Environics Research Group. The study – covering Chinese public perception of 31 countries – also revealed that Canada does not have a strongly defined image, in comparison with how the Chinese view such countries as the USA (widely seen as strong), France (romantic) or Japan (diligent).

Conference On Developing Malaysia Master Brand

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to address over 500 government officials and corporate leaders to give his input on "Brand Malaysia" at a conference this month. The one-day conference, which will be held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel here on June 28, will map out strategies and develop initiatives for conceiving "Brand Malaysia", said its organiser Yayasan Kajian & Strategy Melayu.

Cultural Empathy Doesn’t Need Your Sympathy

Weaver, Ph.D., began his tour of the Kingdom, lecturing in Dhahran, Riyadh and Jeddah on “Understanding American Culture: Cross-Cultural Communication and Adaptation.” Professor Weaver, the director of the Intercultural Management Institute at the American University in Washington, D.C. Do we really want the freer circulation of cultural goods?

I believe we are likely to see pressures mounting on the museum to give things back to other communities in the future. When objects are free to move, where should they go? To those who most devoutly believe in them in a religious sense? To those who would be the best physical caretakers or the most engaged or sophisticated interpretive community? To those national or local formations that most urgently need them for their sense of identity? Or to the highest bidder?
