Advisors clash over proposed ‘symbolic city’
Political advisors disagreed Monday over a proposed "Chinese cultural symbolic city", to be built in Chinese philosopher Confucius' hometown of Jining in Shandong province...."The 'city' will contribute to China's `soft power' and its construction should become one of the nation's key cultural projects," Geng Jiahuai, an NPC deputy who is also board chairman of the Yanzhou Mining Group, said yesterday.
PR-friendliness
The Turkish position on relations with Baghdad had to be explained to the world in general and not only to the Turkish public. As expected, the Office of the President held a press conference to inform media organs' Ankara representatives. The list of the invitees reflected the same "Bana ne!" (What's it to me!) tradition. The Presidency was apparently trying to rationalize the visit in the eyes of the Turkish public and was neutral on what the world media would write.
