Diplomatic Action Beyond the State with Robert Kelley
In his book Agency Change John Robert Kelley moves beyond standard concepts of "traditional" and "new" diplomacy, exploring the coexistence of statesmen with non-state actors on the world stage.
Rob Kelley discussed how states have (or have not) embraced change, and what they may consider doing to respond to a world in which diplomacy has gone public. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Geoffrey Wiseman, a Professor of the Practice of International Relations and Public Diplomacy at USC and a former Director of CPD. He is a former Australian diplomat where he served in three diplomatic postings (Stockholm, Hanoi, and Brussels) and as private secretary to Foreign Minister Gareth Evans.
