CPD Blogger M. Armstrong and CPD Senior Fellow J. Brown participate in a conference with J. Glassman

Matt Armstrong, and CPD Senior Fellow, John Brown, along with other prominent bloggers in the field of public diplomacy, participated in a roundtable conference with Under Secretary of State For Public Diplomacy And Public Affairs, James K. Glassman.

Mr. Glassman spoke about public diplomacy as a "facilitator" and a "convener", giving examples with two recent initiatives by the State Department -- the Democracy Video Project, a 3-minute video contest on the topic “Democracy Is…?”, and the Digital Outreach Team, a group of bloggers who represent the Department's perspective in conversations on blogs and websites worldwide. The Undersecretary also took questions from the audience on topics ranging from democracy promotion, to U.S.-Iranian relations, and the Defense Department's role in public diplomacy.
